Artpeace: Peacing Together
Art Peace is a youth organisation that aim to cater to a variety of important issues around the world through
different artforms and aim to work together to promote peace through art. I was invited to join their new initiative
“Peacing Together”, where they would be presenting the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals through art
works in the form of puzzle pieces to raise awareness for these causes. I was commissioned to design my
interpretation of #1 of the SDGs: Poverty.
Design Concept:
As poverty is so broad and has different interpretations depending on whose looking, I decided to create this design. It is based on the quote “Poverty is in the eyes of the beholder” which means poverty doesn't exist on its own but is created by observers.
It includes the earth within an eye which is crying- to symbolise that poverty is happening all over the world but no matter who is looking/ experiencing poverty it is sad/ emotional/ upsetting.
